I’ve been thinking about when Soul got hit by Crona recently, and I’d like to see what everyone thinks.
So Soul was infected with the black blood after he blocked Maka from taking the hit from Crona, and I’ve really been wondering what would have happened had he not and Maka was hurt instead. Maka, because she’s Grigori, purifies the black blood so I feel I’m okay to assume that she wouldn’t have been infected like Soul was- it simply wouldn’t be able to take hold. Would the blood simply cease to exist because it had no host? Could the whole thing have been avoided if Soul stayed put?
Along the same train of thought, would Maka have died from the injury? Maybe the reason Soul survived because he did become infected- it was helping its host survive so it could survive along with him. In this situation Maka wouldn’t have its help because it was never inside of her to begin with, and she may not be able to handle such an injury on her own. On the other hand, it’s entirely possible that there was nothing assisting Soul’s survival and the blow just simply wasn’t enough to kill him and, by extension, probably wouldn’t be enough to kill Maka either. Hell, there are even headcanons going around saying that a weapon is genetically stronger than their meister and can take hits a meister can’t, thus leaving us in a situation where the blood didn’t help Soul live (his weapon gene protected him on its own) but Maka didn’t have that and would die had she had the same trauma.
I’m pretty sure this whole thing made no sense at all (they were my ideas and even MY head hurts), and the entire question in general is pretty bizarre and circumstantial, but if anyone happens to understand I’d really love to know what you think!
